Dental implants in Hanoi
Last updated 6 November 2026 · By the Dentist in Hanoi editorial team · General information, not medical advice
In short: a single implant in Hanoi usually takes two treatment phases a few months apart: placing the implant, then fitting the crown once the bone has healed around it. Published prices in Hanoi depend mainly on the implant brand, and on whether the abutment and crown are included. Plan for at least two trips if you don't live here, and get a written treatment plan with everything that is included.
What a dental implant is
An implant is a small screw, usually titanium, placed in the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. On top of it comes a connecting piece (the abutment) and a crown that looks like a tooth. Implants can also support a bridge or a full denture.
How the treatment usually goes
- Consultation and 3D scan. The dentist examines your mouth and takes an X-ray and usually a 3D scan (CBCT) to check the amount and quality of bone. You get a treatment plan and a quote.
- Extraction and, if needed, bone graft. If the tooth is still there it is removed. When there isn't enough bone, a bone graft or sinus lift may be needed first, which adds healing time and cost.
- Placing the implant. Done under local anaesthetic. Most people describe it as less unpleasant than an extraction; some swelling and soreness for a few days is normal.
- Healing (osseointegration). The bone grows onto the implant. This commonly takes around three to six months, depending on the site and your bone. Some clinics offer "immediate loading" (a temporary tooth the same day) in suitable cases.
- Abutment and crown. Impressions or a digital scan are taken and the final crown is fitted.
Visiting from abroad? Realistically you need two trips: one for the implant and one, months later, for the crown. Ask the clinic how many days each trip takes, and who will check the implant once you are back home.
What it costs in Hanoi
Prices below come from clinics' own published price lists. The brand of the implant makes the biggest difference: Korean systems are usually at the lower end, Swiss, Swedish and US premium systems at the higher end.
| Treatment | Range (VND) | About (USD) | Notes | Clinics |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Implant, Korean or Israeli system | 7,500,000 to 22,000,000 | 300 to 870 | Per implant. Some prices include the abutment; the crown is usually extra. | 6 |
| Implant, Swiss, US or European premium system | 15,000,000 to 45,000,000 | 590 to 1,770 | Per implant. Some prices include the abutment; the crown is usually extra. | 6 |
Ranges are the lowest and highest prices we found on the clinics' own published price lists; "Clinics" is the number of price lists the range is based on. A dentist can only give you a real quote after an examination. Sources.
Check what the quoted price includes. Common extras are the 3D scan, extraction, bone graft, sinus lift, the abutment, the crown and follow-up visits.
Questions to ask before you start
- Which implant brand and model will you use, and why? Will I get the implant card or sticker with the batch number?
- Is the price for the implant only, or including abutment and crown? Which crown material?
- Do I need a bone graft or sinus lift, and what does that cost?
- Who places the implant, and how many implants do they place a year?
- What guarantee do you give on the implant and on the crown, and what does it cover if I live abroad?
- Can I get copies of my X-rays, 3D scan and the treatment record, so a dentist at home can follow up?
Risks and when an implant may not be suitable
Implants have a high success rate, but they can fail, mostly in the first months. Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, gum disease and some medications increase the risk. Tell the dentist about your health and medication, including blood thinners and osteoporosis drugs. A good clinic will explain alternatives such as a bridge or a partial denture.

Frequently asked questions
How long do I need to stay in Hanoi for a dental implant?
For the implant placement itself, often only a few days including the consultation and a check-up. The crown follows after a healing period of usually three to six months, which means a second trip of several days. Ask the clinic for a schedule in writing.
Are dental implants cheaper in Vietnam?
Published prices in Hanoi are often lower than in Western Europe, Australia or North America. Compare like for like: the same implant brand, with abutment and crown included, and add travel and accommodation for at least two trips.
Which implant brands are used in Hanoi?
Clinics in Hanoi publish prices for Korean brands (such as Osstem and Dentium) as well as premium brands such as Straumann and Nobel Biocare. Ask which exact product line will be used.
